my hell is just beginning, 26 years of marriage, almost divorced last year until we finally decided to get back and give it another try this year.
now i'll have to meet with the elders and tell them about my spirituality and doubts about the wts, 1914, 1995 generation change,malawy/mexico,and on and on and my wife will be there.
i do feel sorry for my wife because she has already lost 13 members of her family, "apostasy" and some just left the truth and even though some are not disfellowshipped she won't talk to them, now her husband, is going thru the same thing, she cannot accept it because out of 31 y. in the truth i was an elder and how could that happen.

I love my wife but she will leave because she has to stay faithful to Jah's earthly organization.
If you posed the question: "What if you found out beyond a shadow of a doubt that being faithful to Jah does not mean alligence to any earthly organization - how important would it be for you to find that out?". Then quote to her from the JWs about proving the truth of your religion so that she doesn't get unconfortable in her 'quest'.

a man cannot walk on water, truly dead people do not come back to life and 1 + 1 will never equal 3. these are just a few of the absurd impossibilities that one must swallow and accept in order to 'believe' the bible.. why does the belief that the bible is 'truth' persist?.
men cannot survive a fiery furnace unscathed, the sun cannot stand still in the sky and donkeys cannot speak hebrew.

Then what do you need the rest of the Bible for? Just type that quote on a placard and throw the rest of the Bible away.
Actually, you could... for me, that quote IS the message of Jesus Christ. Yet, there are many, many other things, lessons, quotes, whatever... that you can take away from the Bible and use in ones journey through life. The problem is, some people will quote and try to use EVERYTHING ... for me, that can be a problem because of conflicting ideas.
my dear sister in law died last week age 39 leaving 3 kids (16, 12 and 5).
we're very close and the youngest kids are staying with us, off and on, for a while.
got to know the catholic priest who has been wonderful and made all the difference to helping her accept what was happening.
Sorry to hear about the loss in your family. I'm glad you're helping out with the kids. The priest sounds like a great 'guy' and it's nice to hear about the 'love' shown by total strangers.

Of course not. Faith is only effective when it deals with something that is TRUE but probably not experienced by the physical senses. Some people like to take the Bible in its' entirety and pick it to pieces thereby claiming it to 'false'. For me, the 'treasures' of truth and wisdom within the Bible are what sustain it as being something more than just another book.

hey everyone, i've been examining my faith and found it doesn't stand up to biblical theology.
its going to be hard since a lot family and friends will very likely repudiate me.
i have taken some steps to introduce topics to my family that will get them to analyze the wt teachings.
Tell them that the original Bible Students that the JWs "broke off" from are still around. Who changed?

illegals granted social security

It's not law yet, it still has to pass the House and the House isn't buying it. (at least not until after the November elections)
On the radio in L.A. today, a lady was telling about her 2 year battle with the Social Security Administration..... seems her SS number has been used by 81 illegal aliens and it has created many, many problems for her. In fact, they wouldn't allow her back into the country for several hours because the number was flag.... the irony is that the illegals use the number day in and day out and NOTHING happens to them, except they get employed. This woman's life is now turned upside down. She was told the only way she could get a new SS number is if she were to be put into the WITNESS PROTECTION program....which the government would be willing to do, but she would have to change her name and all of her records. This woman's mother and grandmother were born in Mexico and they came here LEGALLY many years ago before she was born. They're all incensed at the illegal's attitude of using the system to their advantage and the Amercian taxpayer picking up the bill.
i had an experience a couple of days ago.
me and my bf broke up he is a jw and i am not.
we were togehter for a while and it was a good relationship and out of the blue he says to me i think its better if we just break up.
Hi Jade, welcome to the board. I've been here a few years, but I've never been a JW. I could give you some advice, but it wouldn't be as valid as someone whose been in the religion. Just keep checking back.... there are many people on this board who've been in your shoes, or others who are familiar with your situation and will give you some great advice. btw, may I ask your age.... it will give those who will respond a little more perspective.
